Private game server

ISEKAISQUAD

Our own game server, running on a laptop in somebody's spare room. Whatever we're playing right now is below, plus how to get on it.

What's running

This list is live. If a game isn't on it, it isn't running.

How to join

Five steps. Same five every time, whatever we're playing.

  1. Install Tailscale

Our server is not on the open internet, so you can't just type in the address and join. Tailscale is a free app that lets your computer see it. Think of it as the key to the front door.

Install it, then ask an admin to invite you. An admin is whoever sent you this link. Until they invite you, it won't work.

Leave Tailscale running the whole time you play. Close it and you get kicked off.

    Download Tailscale

  2. Buy the game

You have to actually own whatever we're playing. Buy it, install it, then open it once and let it finish setting itself up. Nothing below works until you've done that.

  3. Get the same mods as everyone else

Mods are extra stuff added to a game. A bundle of them is called a modpack. Some games we play with one, some without.

If a card up above lists a modpack, you need the same one, at the same version number. Not a newer one. Not close. Identical. This is the number one reason people can't get in.

  4. Join the server

Open the game and look for Multiplayer, Add Server or Join by IP. Hit the Copy button below, paste it in, and connect.

  5. If it doesn't work

Check these three, in this order. It's basically always one of them.

    1. Is Tailscale actually on? Open it. It has to say connected. Installed is not the same as connected.
    2. Is your version exactly right? Compare it to the card above, number for number. 1.21.1 and 1.21.2 are not the same thing.
    3. Did the address paste properly? No spaces at either end, nothing missing off the end of it.

Still broken? Ask in Discord, and say which three you already checked so nobody makes you do them again.

House rules

  • Don't grief the base

Someone spent four hours on that. Borrowing is fine. Arson is not.

  • Say something before you change a gamerule

Flipping keepInventory at 2am without telling anyone is a personality choice.

  • If it's down, it's probably the laptop

Not you. Not your internet. The laptop. Give it a minute and try again.
